ARS researchers in Beltsville, MD, have been studying the effect of walnuts, pistachios, almonds, and cashews on our digestive health. Through their research we are now able to isolate and study how a single type of food is influencing the microbiota that live inside each of us. This study will improve our ability to create more targeted dietary recommendations for specific individuals, moving away from the one-size-fits-all model.
